Out with the old and in with new… it’s time for new pinnies!

apron haberdasheryWe have always had a lot of interest and a lot of compliments in the shop when wearing our pinnies and we are always asked ‘do we sell them?

The short answer is unfortunately no, BUT we will tell you how we make them and then you can make one of your own and embellish it to your own taste…

ribbon and trimsFirst, you need to cut out your apron using any hard wearing fabric you like -( we chose denim as it’s strong and is a great basic background too).

Ideal fabrics might be cotton drills/denims/pvcs/linen mixes; all of which we have plenty of to choose from in the-stitchery, so why not pop in and pick yourself up a metre to get started .

making an apronSo far, we’ve used a dark grey/black denim and light vintage style washed denim to give a different feel for our embellishments.

It’s also nice to have a bit of variation as our staff will be wearing them at the same time. Hopefully our aprons will inspire you to create your own personal version?

apron trimsNow you need to decorate and embellish the fabric.

We suggest ribbons / ric-rac / tapes / bows / buttons / motifs or  just any haberdashery that you can stitch on -don’t worry the-stitchery has a little bit of something for everyone, so it’s unlikely you’ll go home empty handed -our colourful and exciting ranges are sure to get the ideas flowing!

If you need a bit of inspiraton or us to just to help you out with ideas why not come upstairs at the Riverside and let’s get your apron project started!

Don’t forget if you can’t visit us when your projects are finished, why not email us those pictures of your pinnies at
